Playwright and artistic director George C. Wolfe was born on September 23, 1954 in Frankfort, Kentucky. His mother, a teacher, was among the first African Americans to study library science through the University of Kentucky Extension Program. Sterling Houston was born in San Antonio in 1943. Houston attended Los Angeles City College before dropping out in 1964 to study acting in New York.
